The Canadian Council for the Americas (CCA-Alberta) and the International Offices and Trade Division of Alberta International, Intergovernmental and Aboriginal Relations invite you to attend a breakfast presentation delivered by Dr. Jorge Sapag, Elected Governor of the province of Neuquen regarding Oil and Gas Business Opportunities in Argentina.

The province of Neuquen is one of the richest in Argentina, endowed by nature with abundant natural resources and a beautiful landscape. The main drivers of Neuquen's economy in the energy sector include oil and gas as well as power generation. For more information about the province of Neuquen and the relationship with Alberta please visit http://www.iir.gov.ab.ca/international_relations/documents/Neuquen-2005.pdf.

Oil and Gas: Neuquen has a tradition in the exploration and operation of oil and gas fields that goes back to 1918. The quality of its crude oil is well regarded. Only 65% of the potential areas have been explored with many promising fields remaining. There are more than 50 areas in production with over 80 deposits with 20 national and international companies participating in their production. There are also over 500 oil and gas service companies active in the region.

Power Generation: The province of Neuquen provides the country with 44% of its hydro potential and 7% of its thermal power generation capacity. Together they generate over 22,000 Gwh yearly.

Dr. Jorge Sapag will assume his mandate as Neuquen's next Governor on December 10th, 2007. He has singled out Canada as an ideal partner for his province and would like to establish relationships with parties interested in participating in Neuquen's development.

If you are interested in the Argentinean market, this is a high level presentation that you will not want to miss.
