TUESDAY MARCH 2, 2010CALGARY PETROLEUM CLUB319 5TH AVE SW, CALGARY12:00 PM - 2:00 PM
CCA-Alberta in coordination with Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada and with the collaboration of the Government of Alberta present a unique lunch presentation with an international delegation from the State of Pernambuco, Brazil, led by Mr. Eduardo Campos, Governor of Pernambuco, featuring the Suape Global Project.
The Suape port and industrial complex located in the North-Eastern State of Pernambuco has been in existence for 31 years and is considered to be the best public port in Brazil. More than 90 companies are already set up in this industrial complex but, in 2008, the Suape Global Project, a State and Federal government sponsored initiative, was launched. The project aims to transform Suape into an Oil, Gas, Offshore and Shipbuilding Equipment and Services Supply Complex. Three important anchor investments are already running there as an oil refinery, a shipyard and a petrochemical plant.
Foreign investors benefit from Pernambuco State Government fiscal incentives if they set up their operations within the complex. Investment in the project is projected to lead to follow-on sales and procurement opportunities. The lunch will provide an opportunity to learn about business opportunities for equipment manufacturers and service providers for the oil & gas and shipbuilding industries, universities, financial institutions, etc.
The lunch will include remarks and presentations from:
- Governor of Pernambuco, Eduardo Campos
- Canadian Ambassador to Brazil - Ambassador Paul Hunt
- Presentation of the Suape Global project by Secretary of Development of the State of Pernambuco and President of Suape, Fernando Bezerra Coelho
- President of Refinaria Abreu e Lima (Refinery), Marcelino Guedes
